I am an applied linguist who teaches General Introduction to Linguistics, Current Theories of Second Language Acquisition (graduate level), Semiotics, and ESOL 171 (Advanced Academic Speaking and Listening Comprehension). I use technology extensively, especially my XV6800 and other models to prepare teaching modules and encourage students to use multimedia technology in order to complete assignments. I also use blogs, wikis, YouTube, MonoConc to analyze text, etc. I need software for handhelds (XV6800 or windows mobile Treos) to help foreign-born students learn American English pronunciation, intonation and stress. I would also be interested in software for learning basic Mandarin as I will be teaching in Shanghai next summer (2009).
